Frequently Asked Questions

Will SLiPLO fit on my car?

Yes, SLiPLO is a universal kit designed to fit all vehicles. Ensure the surface area you’re protecting is flat and measures at least 1 inch for proper adhesion.

Will SLiPLO lower my height clearance?

SLiPLO reduces your bumper’s lower lip clearance by approximately 1/4 inch. This minimal reduction is optimized to protect your car from damage while maintaining a factory-like appearance.

Will it make my bumper more sticky during impact?

No. SLiPLO is made from a special blend of polyurethane that glides smoothly over surfaces like asphalt. Unlike carbon fiber or fiberglass, which have high friction, SLiPLO cushions and eases impacts, protecting your bumper.

Is SLiPLO made from cheap rubber?

No. SLiPLO is crafted from high-performance polyurethane, the same material used on snowplow edges. This ensures durability, impact absorption, and smooth gliding over tough surfaces.

Will SLiPLO last in extreme temperatures?

Yes. SLiPLO’s polyurethane material and double-sided adhesive are designed to withstand extreme hot and cold temperatures worldwide.

How strong is the adhesive?

The adhesive is as strong as a rivet per square inch. It may fail only if:

  • SLiPLO is improperly installed.

  • It’s applied to non-paint surfaces (e.g., wraps, PPF, wax, or sealants).

  • Extreme impacts occur (e.g., hitting a raised parking block). This is actually a safety feature, as it prevents bumper damage.

Can I install SLiPLO myself?

Yes! SLiPLO’s patent-pending design and 3M adhesive backing make installation quick and easy. No drilling or hardware is required.

Do I need a lift to install SLiPLO?

A lift is not mandatory but makes installation easier. Many customers install SLiPLO on ground level, using ramps or jacks to lift the front of the car.

What tools do I need for installation?

You’ll only need heavy-duty scissors or snips to trim SLiPLO pieces. We recommend Fiskars PowerArc Utility Snips for precise cutting.

How many DIY kits do I need?

Most vehicles require 8 pieces (1 DIY kit). For larger or high-end vehicles with extended protection needs, 12-16 pieces (2 DIY kits) may be required.

Can I find an installer near me?

The edge of one of the strips is peeling off. Can I fix it without removing the entire strip?
Unfortunately, no. The strip will need to be removed and replaced with a new one.

To get warranty replacement please email help@sliplo.com with your order number, full mailing address and the issue you are having

Can I install SLIPLO over my existing paint protection film (PPF)
We generally do not recommend installing SLIPLO over PPF. The adhesive on the PPF could fail upon impact, potentially damaging the clear bra. For the best results, we recommend trimming the edge of the PPF on the bottom side of the bumper and installing SLIPLO directly onto the paint. This ensures a secure and long-lasting installation.

How do I remove SLIPLO without damaging my car?

Removing SLIPLO pieces, which are secured with double-sided adhesive (such as 3M automotive foam tape), requires careful attention to prevent damage to your car’s paint. Follow this step-by-step guide for a safe and effective removal process:

Tools and Materials Needed:

  • Heat gun or hairdryer

  • 200 - 300LB 8 Strand Fishing line

  • Adhesive remover (e.g., Goo Gone, 3M Adhesive Remover, or isopropyl alcohol)

  • Microfiber cloth

  • Masking tape (to protect surrounding areas)

  • Wax and grease remover (optional, for final cleanup)

Steps to Remove the Moldings or Trim:

  1. Prepare the Area:

    • Clean the area around the molding or trim with soap and water to remove dirt and debris.

    • Use masking tape to protect the paint around the edges of the trim piece.

  2. Heat the Adhesive:

    • Use a heat gun or hairdryer to warm up the adhesive behind the molding or trim. Hold the heat source 6–8 inches away and move it back and forth to avoid overheating and damaging the paint.

    • Heat the adhesive for 1–2 minutes until it becomes soft and pliable.

  3. Separate the Trim from the Adhesive:

    • Use fishing line or dental floss to gently "saw" through the adhesive behind the trim. Start at one end and work your way to the other.

    • If the trim is large, you may need to reheat sections as you go to keep the adhesive soft.

  4. Remove Residual Adhesive:

    • Once the trim is removed, there will likely be leftover adhesive on the paint.

    • Apply an adhesive remover (e.g., Goo Gone or 3M Adhesive Remover) to a microfiber cloth and gently rub the adhesive residue. Avoid using metal scrapers, as they can scratch the paint.

    • For stubborn residue, reheat the area with the heat gun and carefully scrape it off with a plastic trim tool.

  5. Clean the Surface:

    • After removing the adhesive, clean the area with wax and grease remover or isopropyl alcohol to ensure no residue remains.

    • Wash the area with soap and water, then dry it thoroughly.

  6. Inspect and Protect:

    • Inspect the paint for any damage. If necessary, polish the area to restore the finish.

    • Apply wax or sealant to protect the paint.

Tips:

  • Work slowly and carefully to avoid damaging the paint or trim.

  • If the trim is reusable, clean off the old adhesive and reapply new double-sided tape before reinstalling.

  • Avoid using excessive heat, as it can damage the paint or warp the trim.

By following these steps, you can safely remove moldings or trim pieces without harming your vehicle's paint.
